Thinking Murano?? Canary Yellow Bowl, bubbles ID = Murano
« on: February 06, 2012, 05:00:59 PM »
 :hi:

I bought this bowl at the same Auction here.  Am thinking it is Murano (or might it be Erickson?) as I am not really sure.  Those were the 2 thoughts that went through my head.  It is a really bright yellow (no glow under UV light) with controlled bubbles.  The bubbles do get bigger in size towards the top.  The base has very good wear.  Heavy, and not sure how you would call the shape....maybe like a Disc shape (?)  Rim is not polished, just normal glass shape.  I call it almost a canary yellow, as it is a Bright yellow.  It is:

~ 2.75 inches Tall
~ 7 inches wide (AT the widest point-middle)
~ Opening is only 5 inches wide at the top
~ Weight is 2.14 pounds

Any idea on the maker, or the age of it?  Thanks as always  :kissy:

Well Rose,  firstly yellow is my very favourite colour and secondly,  have you noticed how little yellow glass is out there compared to other colours?
I don't know who made it,  but I do like it very much and hope you get an attribution soon.  We all learn so much when questions like this are asked.

Thanks Rosie  :kissy:

Yes have to agree with you on that!  Also I find not that much Orange glass either as in like this one *HERE   Nice Bright colors for dreary weather     I picked up about 6 or so pieces at this auction, so someone had Good taste in Glass.  I do not attend the Auction, but rather just leave silent bids on items.  If I get it - I get it.  If not...so be it.  I do not attend the auctions here as I find I *may* get too caught up in the bidding and then over-spend.

I think silent bidding has been working out for me here, and getting some decent Glass for some good (low) prices....when they have Glass  :smg:

Hi, the yellow in your bowl is the same as my piece and the same base. As you can see, Italian is the answer with mine. Not sure if this helps. : ) Pete

Hi there:

that is what I am leaning to as I also have a bowl like the one you posted the link to here.  It was just that this is a different shape, and the color is full -- as compared to that one (you have and I also have...of a partial yellow ruffled bowl).

Just wanted a positive ID on on this one with the style/design.  Thanks  :kissy:

Update:  Confirmed -- This is Murano.   ;)

I Saw a blue one like this (Antique Store) with a round small Blue/Gold Foil label on it saying "Made in Murano Italy"

So ID confirmed......I guess
