Blue uranium glass from Greener
« on: July 19, 2014, 02:41:00 PM »
I was pleased to find this with its registration lozenge where the handle joins the base. Deposition number 238105, 14 January 1870. it lights up very brightly under UV
It is the same as this one. http://lustrousstone.co.uk/cpg/displayimage.php?pid=4

And cost 50p?  ;D

Very nice piece, and you would not think it was uranium! I keep meaning to show you the light powder-blue hyacinth vase I have that glows like a good-un. Perhaps I'll bring it up next time.

I do know of your particular penchant for non green or yellow Uranium glass, so a wonderful find for you.

And it's amazing that something of such an easily damaged shape could have survived for so long. :o

nice blue, and assume it glows green ??           Greener's submission to the B. of T. was of a clear example and they provided one of those sepia photos.........     described simply as 'ornamental basket'. :)
