SVdA and Flavio Poli design?
« on: September 07, 2014, 08:14:21 PM »
A substantial and heavy vase, 28cm tall, well executed and nicely finished.

I was searching about when I saw the following ebay listing, obviously the same glass maker but is it SVdA?  http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190775462946

I don't know, but IMHO rather not ;)
I have never seen this type of sommerso in a - confirmed - Flavio Poli piece. (And I have looked at many when I researched my Poli vase)
Not the delicate and sparse use of colours I would expect...

That ebay seller doesn't seem to be the most reliable resource either, he cannot make his mind up: in the title he says Flavio Poli for C.O.V.E.M. (whatever that is), in the description AVEM.

Nice vase, though, but I would think more recent than 1950s...

I agree Michael, noticed the covem avem gibberish....

When I bought the vase I had a vague Mandruzzato in mind, still think that is much more likely than SVdA.

Wayne has photos of this bunch, some have ribbons of colour much like my vase: http://www.20thcenturyglass.com/glass_encyclopedia/murano_glass/mandruzzato_glass/mandruzzato_home.htm

Then there is this one which looks very Mandruzzato to me: https://www.1stdibs.com/furniture/dining-entertaining/vases/flavio-poli-murano-seguso-art-blue-amber-glass-vase/id-f_780189/
