ODOL, established 1893,  is a famous brand in Germany and still produced today. Since 1974 member of SmithKline Beecham Group, now GlaxoSmithKline, UK .

Text is in German only, but interesting images and advertising through the decades here

...and certainly yes, I'm older  :-*

Keith, thank you for this end of summer puzzle - never thought I should investigate this bottle!  :-*

Found interesting pages CV of K.A. Lingner, inventor and manufacturer of ODOL
http://lingner-archiv.jimdo.com/

ODOL for collectors' page states that without original label it is nearly impossible to date the bottles. Lots of photos of different labels there  ;)

However, bottles with screw cap are post 1936 which means that yours is PRE 1936 (same as mine, my smaller 'travel size' bottles with Bakelit cap are younger).

The archive does not mention the base mark at all  :-X

Bottles (Patent 75789)

manufactured by:
at the start: Glashütte von Münzel & Palme in Röhrsdorf,
from 1895 Glashütte Trassel in Ober-Warmensteinach und in Schönthal (Bohemia)
from 1906 in Immenreuth
Furthermore, the Lingner works possessed glassworks in Brand-Erbisdorf and in Bodenbach.

Verified today that also the small bottles bear the ODOL mark under the base.
Keith, did you get the small one, too?

Meanwhile, I contacted Dr. Ulf Funke, author of the Lingner archive pages, regarding the base mark and whether it could help to date the label-less bottles. I'll let you know further results.
