Hi All,
Today we decided to venture into Belgium. I found a few nice pieces of which I knew the makers of:
Carnival glass double candlestick - Jeannette Glass - Iris & Herringbone.
A Riihimaen Lasi vase.
A VSL ashtray.

I also bought a very heavy vase, which I think could be Czech.

I also found this very heavy ashtray. I am sure I have seen the pattern somewhere.

Has the first one got a polished base, if not, it might be Italian. No marks is there?

I have a similar one (different pattern) with that style of base and it has Italy and a star on the inside base. My vase is made by Fidenza.

As you can see, it isn't polished, or marked.

The photo's are fine it's just that clear glass is difficult to photograph.

That base rim looks polished to me. :?

Here's a picture of the Italian vase, there are differences with the base though.

Della - I thought it looked rather like my Fidenza vase too, but the base is I agree with Tigger, slightly different. I just wonder if it could be French?

Your ashtray is fab

I've never seen anything quite like it before.

Great to hear from you again. :wink: :lol:
I was just looking at your pieces in the other thread. They are lovely.

The ashtray is rather unusual, isn't it. It is actually divided into two, but you can't tell on the photo. Sometimes it looks green and other times it looks yellow, but it doesn't react to blacklight.

As to the vase, I really don't have a clue. I thought that it could be Czech. French is also a possibility considering that I bought it in Belgium.

Sorry, my fault, should've explained myself properly.

I'd much rather have that yellow vase, it's got a nice yellow glow to it. Haven't got a clue who made it though.

I was just going to ask if it glows under UV light but I can see now that you've already said it doesn't. :lol:

The vase looks like d'Avesn to me (Daum, France). I have a very similar one that is signed in tiny letters on the base just inside the ground/polished ring. If d'Avesn it would be very heavy and very sparkly in sunlight.

I think the heavy vases are both from Fidenza in Italy; but of course Arc are a contender for this as well. I don't really believe D'Avesn had anything to do with these, sorry.

The yellow ("citrine") ashtray would most likely be Zbs, Zeleznobrodske Sklo and from fairly recent vintage.
