Murano Glass Alabastro Geode bowl?
« on: October 22, 2014, 12:16:07 AM »
I have an art glass bowl that I am fairly certain was made in Murano Italy. Was hoping someone might be able to confirm this and possibly send me in the direction of a particular glass maker. Would this be considered alabastro glass? Bowl in cased glass pink with an orange design in the center, measures 6 1/4" in diameter and is 2 5/8" tall. This is somewhat transluscent. Has a smooth polished base.

Welcome to the forum.

Murano looks good, take a look at Cenedese, I remember seeing bowls with a similar pattern in various colours. It does look alabastro like but if there is also a layer of clear glass it might not strictly speaking get called alabastro - I am a little vague on what would or would not.

Some examples, the style seems to get called Zebrato:
