Topic: Did Selkirk etch over Ltd Edition seconds

Picked one up today no name or date on the base just Selkirk Glass  the frosted etched pattern seems to me to detract rather than add to the weight wondering if that is the style or maybe like Caithness they 'altered' the Ltd Edition seconds by adding the decoration?
Only one quick photo will take some more tomorrow.

Hi Chris

Can't say for certain but I have a Caithness "Flower in the Rain" which is marked on the base as a second and this too has etched leaves around the base.

So as Selkirk glass was founded by two ex Caithness workers then I think that there is  strong likelihood that the practice at Caithness was adopted at Selkirk - and possibly both firms used seconds in this way for some element of training their cold workers?

Hi Derek, just spoke to Peter Holmes they did not add an etching to the Ltd Edition second's  like CG did.
It is in fact an unlimited  Firecracker weight that would have had a surface mark and the sand blasting was done at the factory to cover it.
So I suppose  it's a little unusual in that respect.

But they frosted and facetted some - unless someone else did (not me!) . Attached is an image of my Rondo weight , LE=500, first issued 2001 (mine marked 2003) to compare with the catalogue image. Actually - I find mine more interesting .
