Help with gold glass vase - steuben?
« on: November 20, 2014, 01:49:59 AM »
i have a miniature glass vase of nearly 2 1/2" height. it is finished in iridized gold with slightly dimpled sides. the underside is thoroughly finished and polished. it is unsigned. Does anyone have a good guess for the maker? there is an outside chance of steuben and this finish is not aurene as far as I know.

Looks like a Salviati thimble. If you search the board here, one came by quite recently.

Except for that base finish, one I have here has a small snapped pontil mark.

Looks like a Salviati thimble....

after looking around, I believe that it is a toothpick holder. thanks for salviati lead - I found 1 or 2 salviati toothpick holders with very similar shapes.
