Fostoria style glass fruit bowl help please. ID = Jobling
« on: November 23, 2014, 01:01:03 PM »
Hello there, i have been staring a cube glass for a while and i can not find this. There is something similar, a sugar bowl that the lister has attributed to  American Fostoria glass on google.

All the Fostoria glass i'm looking at seems very white, this glass has a yellow tint, it's not uranium glass.

It has some age so i'm guessing 1930's, there is wear to the base rim edge.

It's 8 1/2 inches across not including the handles and 4 1/4 inches in height.

Looks like the American 8" footed handled bowl. Cannot really date American reliably because it was in production from 1915 to 1986 & they produced close to all these pieces for literally decades. .

The measurements are spot on, I wonder why it has yellow tint? Thanks for your reply.

That would explain the difference in my measurements and the colour, thanks Christine.

Had no idea Jobling made a look-a-like for Fostoria American & now I see the star under the handle.

Needed to follow up...the link has a somewhat confusing statement pertaining to Indiana Glass & the Fostoria molds which is accurate, however the "original" Indiana Whitehall which was a close ringer for Fostoria American (for 20 years) was introduced in the early 1960s & did not have anything to do with the later Fostoria mold purchase...the confusion (American VS Whitehall) existed long before the Colony Corp.'s acquisition of the Fostoria molds in 1985.
