Monart BJ is it colour 396?
« on: November 26, 2014, 09:20:38 PM »
Hi,
got this little number - a few little annealing cracks in the base.

I initially thought it was going to be colour 384 but when it arrived I thought not - possibly 396?
It has the orange/yellow rounded "blobs" but also a green that looks like a uranium green (but I don't think it is!) a teal- ish green, bits of cloudy white, aventurine and also a browny orange which are angular "blobs" (technical term ;D) - see close up.

Please can anyone give their ideas on the correct colour code if possible - thanks!
Roberta

I believe it is colour code 395. A much more interesting colour scheme than mine, shown in link below.
This shape has been known thru the years as a matchstick holder and a tooth pick holder when in fact it is a cigarette holder, see link below.

Thanks Gary - I've always seen them listed as matchstick holders - when it arrived I thought it looked rather large for that - so cigarette holder it is then  ;D

There was I, thinking it was a wine-cooler.  ;D
How tall is it?
The pattern has been accordingly "reduced" for it to look as in proportion as a ciggie holder as it would a wine-cooler - so how does this fit in with miniatures?
It's not a miniature of something else, it is what it is; but the work that's gone into it is the same as would have gone into a miniature.
It must be quite gobsmacking in reality.   :) 8)

Hi Sue,
Thanks for your lovely comments. How fabulous would a wine cooler be! (maybe for a dolls house?!!)

It stands 2.5" tall - strictly not a miniature but just a small sized piece of glass, but yes the work that must have gone into these little pieces so they look in proportion.
I will post ( hopefully soon) some other little acquisitions that again are not miniatures , but the detail in them is just the same as in bigger pieces.
Now I'm tempted to say this is an early piece....... but that's just my opinion with no evidence whatsoever!  :D

Gary - my piece looks nothing like colour 395 on ysart glass  ???

The colour code is definitely 395, I have images on my data of labeled pieces with the colour code 395 and they are the same colour scheme as your piece.
Not the best of image on Franks site for that particular colour code, odd that there is no description either.

Is there anything you haven't got????  :P

Has yours got the same "angular" blobs? can't quite tell from the pics.
