Barovier (?) glass fruit
« on: November 28, 2014, 04:30:29 PM »
Lovely set of glass fruit, pastel colours with gold leaf application.
Largest around 10 cm long.
Clear glass cased in coloured opaque, the leaves and stalks are white semi-opaque glass.

>> Link to two tall candle sticks which have absolutely identical fruit applied.
Svazzo states these are documented as Ercole Barovier designs.

Is the attribution correct?
And would that date them to the 1940s?

Thanks!
Michael

Very nice Michael, lovely find. I have no idea if Svazzo's attribution is sound or not but would tend to think it is good.

Thanks, John.
When I found them I was sure I would find loads of similar fruits online, but Svazzo's were the only ones...
So I feel quite comfortable with the Barovier attribution.

Hi Michael,
I've found a candle stick with identical fruits attributed to Barovier & Toso, 1948.

Thank you very much -- absolutely the same fruit! :)
So the Barovier 1940s attribution seems quite solid...

Michael
