Strathearn Sizes
« on: December 04, 2014, 09:49:56 PM »
How did Strathearn label their sizes?

I have a Strathearn Aurora paperweight that is 2 5/8" diameter by 2 1/16" tall.  I know this was made in miniature, small/medium, large, and jumbo.  What would you call a 2 5/8" weight?  Is my paperweight a large or a small/medium?

Here you go http://strathearn.smugmug.com/Strathearn-Paperweights it's a medium at between 2.5 and 2.7 inches according to Richard's excellent site.

Hi Nick
Here is a picture of my miniature Strathearn Aurora weight, it is just one and a half inch diameter. I am wondering how many sizes they made this edition in - anyone know ?

Thanks Nick.  I was confused by the designation small/medium on the Frank Andrews site.  To me a small weight is something between 2" and 2.4".

???
I don't find any "size definitions" for Strathearn on ScotlandsGlass (might be missing something). Frank has adopted Richard More's definitions (without explicitly mentioning them) - which for Aurora are
P26 Miniature (1.3 - 2.2 inches);
P27 Medium (2.5 - 2.7 inches) to Small (2.3 - 2.5 inches) - named "Small/Medium" by Frank;
P28 Large (over 2.7 to over 3 inches).

Sorry, I guess I wasn't clear.  Frank labeled P27 medium/small without giving definitions for the size range.  I usually use 2" or less for miniature, so I was thinking a P27 included everything from 2.1" up to 2.7".  To me that is quite a range for one size.
