Karla - there is another Carnival Glass colour that can be found on clear base glass - and that is smoke.
I don't think marigold is more "fragile" than any other colour, nor do I feel that is shows wear more than any other. Green and amethyst were also early colours for Carnival - being used within the first year of its appearance on the market.
