Blue Trinket Set ID help please
« on: March 30, 2015, 03:04:56 PM »
Hello,

I am helping my grandmother downsize and she has asked me to sell some of her large collection of glass wear, ceramics, plates etc. Amongst the items is this 7 piece trinket set in blue. There doesn't seem to be any makers mark, but my research from this and other sites leads me to believe it may be a Libochovice 1700 or possibly Walther Prismen set of some sort or maybe even a modern replica I guess.. Can anyone kindly help me I.D this so that I can put it up for sale on the forum (Or Ebay if selling is not allowed here)

I don't want to mislead anyone with duff info so any assistance greatly appreciated!

I couldn't get the pics to load directly to the site as they were too large so I have created an album in Photobucket with the images, please copy and paste this in to your address bar if it doesn't hyperlink directly...

Many thanks

Dan

Hello Dan and welcome to the board. Sadly I (and others no doubt) cannot view your Photobucket images due to the security settings for my machine - it blocks Photobucket out.

If you'd like to email me the images I'll resize them and add them to the topic for you so they can be seen by everyone. yobunny AT hotmail.co.uk will reach me - change AT to @ and close up the spaces to make it work.
Cheers! Anne, da tekniqual wizzerd

No nuisance at all, Dan. I've added 7 of the images for you - I've left off the closeups as we don't need those for the ID. :)

No worries, Dan. Sorry I had to upload and run without posting an ID - I was due at a meeting so had to scoot off. I think your set is Czech, made at the Libochovice glassworks, pattern no. 1700. I have a catalogue image of it on the GTS website here so you can compare yours: http://www.glasstrinketsets.com/cms15/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=147&Itemid=143

The Walther Prismen set is very similar in many ways but the tray and ringholder are different, see here: http://www.glas-musterbuch.de/Walther-1931.116+B6YmFja1BJRD0xMTYmcHJvZHVjdElEPTUxNTImcGlkX3Byb2R1Y3Q9MTE2JmRldGFpbD0_.0.html

Fantastic! Thanks again Anne. So would I be safe to advertise it as a Libochovice set in your opinion as it seems the better match to me?

Can I sell for my nan on here or would you prefer I went through Ebay?

Thanks

Dan

Yes I'd go for Libochovice rather than Walther, you can cite the evidence in this topic if you wish in your sales listing (in fact we do appreciate sellers doing that.)  You can offer items for sale in our Glass Market Place: http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/board,4.0.html if you wish, (but nowhere else on the board please), or you can use eBay, ETSY, etc...  and pop a link to your eBay listing into the Glass Market Place instead. Good luck!
