Unusual Random Strap Type Vase - ID = Glashütte Gistl, W Germany

(1/2) > >>

Greg.:
Hi All,

This vase has me a little puzzled! - Has a random strap type design over a clear glass body along with a clear glass foot. The top rim is fire polished and the base has a ground concave pontil mark.  The colour is very much a mix of a green/blue. The vase has some characteristics of Whitefriars, although the shape points me away from WF.

The vase measures 17.5cm tall and is fairly heavy for size at 806 grams.

Any thoughts much appreciated.

Ringing a vague bell Greg, maybe look at German or Austrian makers...

I have one of these, with a WMF label on it's bum.

Greg.:
Many thanks John and Sue  :)

I've been trawling over WMF and Zwiesel pieces the last couple of days, although hadn't encountered an exact match, both companies certainly did produce quite a few unusual designs once you start digging. As a whole I don't generally encounter much WMF glass on my travels, pleased you were able to solve this one so quickly.

Out of interest, is your example the same colour Sue..? - I presume these date to around the 60s period looking at the design and base wear etc.

Many thanks
Greg

Same colours, yes, but I need to amend my attribution!  :-[ :-[ :-[
I thought the label said WMF.
It doesn't.
It says Made in Western Germany.
