Hello john, Harold Newman in his book an illustrated dictionary of glass refers to continental glassblowers introducing this process
to the U.S.A. .
He says there is such thing as a Pitkin flask made by the Pitkin glass works which operated between 1783 until 1830.
Hope this is of some use.
