Greener & Co. celery vase RD 234231 of 14 June 1894.
« on: April 15, 2015, 10:39:20 AM »
A clear glass celery vase by Greener & Co., Sunderland, bearing the registered design number 234231, registered on 14 June 1894.
(Permission for the re-use of these images on the GMB granted by Nicola Wilshaw).

Jenny Thompson (p15) describes the design as ‘Imit. cut’ (so presumably the design is for the pattern rather than the shape).

This seems to be an uncommon design, and this is the first piece in any shape that I have seen from the design.

Does anyone have photos showing other shapes/colours from the design, please?

Fred.

an attractive piece  -  I collect celeries but not aware of seeing this one.          Thompson's comments are accurate - these fan splits and hobnails are seen on much cut glass from the C19 and early C20, so a very good example of imitation of those patterns.
