Please help ID/date this 'tankard' jug
« on: May 01, 2015, 10:31:10 AM »
Hi,
This 'tankard' shaped jug is quite a grey colour with a little sun purpling, the handle was mounted top down, the top third is quite roughly shaped yet the annular rings are very regular, there is considerable base wear and it has a polished pontil. I must admit to thinking that someone spent no little effort over what is a very rustic looking jug. I thought the form was quite 'arts & crafts' but it has me puzzled. Any advice would be gratefully received.
Best Regards
Nick

I forgot to add that it's 7 1/2" / 193mm tall with diameters of 2 1/2" /63mm at the top and 4" / 102mm at the base
Thanks
Nick
