Uranium Cologne bottle reg 194040

(1/2) > >>

Simba:
Just purchased this bottle which I think was for cologne ....on the lid ( I call it a lid as it is not a stopper as it is ground on the inside not on the outside) there is a reg 194040 can anyone tell me who this was registered by please. Obviously the lid  may not be for this bottle it certainly doesn't 'fit' the top of the bottle as it is or maybe there was another piece between them that is missing?  It all glows very strongly under uv. the bottle only, is 4" high and 4" at it's widest point the Lid is 1.25 " high

Ohio:
Neat bottle. Maybe a metal sleeve was on the peg of the stopper for a firm fit & simply fell off & lost?

RD 194040 was registered by Schindler & Co. on 17 June 1892.

(They also registered RD 194041 on the same date, but I've no idea what that looks like).

Schindler & Co. registered some 61 designs between 1890 & 1913, and the firm and some of their registered designed have been discussed several times on the GMB, particularly

It would appear likely that the actual glassware was manufactured by Schindler & Co. in Jablonec, Czechoslovakia.

RD 194040 is their earliest design registration that I come across so far, and I don’t know of any other image of a piece from the design.

Could I have your permission to add copies of your images to the GMB RD database, please, Angela? - with due credit, of course.

Fred.

Simba:
Thank you so much Fred for that information I would be delighted if it was added to the database......it's fascinating stuff, the lid is very finely made with nice chamfered edges and the top where the Reg no appears is also polished.

Simba:
a close up of the lid rim...
