Know nothing about this vase. It was an old wedding gift.
I would like to know something about the author and approx. price.
Thank you very much.

In this auction a "Hero" cameo vase is "attributed" to Loetz.

Mr Hartmann from the Glasmarken Lexicon relates the "Hero" brand to Stephan Hrdina 1858-1928, who started his own company after WW1 in Pärchen bei Steinschönau.

In the twenties he worked in the style of "l'école de Nancy" and  his pieces are often identified as Daum.

Apparently Hrdina, the Czech family surname  and brand name, translates as Hero in English.

OMG, I never thought translate "Hero" into common Czech name "Hrdina" - actually, my grandma's maiden name was "Hrdina" and she got this vase as a wedding gift. Wow, so many connections, I have to ask her, but I bet she didn't know this vase could be made by a family artist.
Thank you very much for your information!

How exciting! I've been following this thread - the vase is absoloutely outstanding and fascinating, a real treasure to have found, but to then discover your family might have a connection with the artist who made it, that you might be related to them, is just amazing.
It would make sense, wouldn't it? for an artist to give a piece of their best work as a wedding gift to family!

Here's another "Hero" cameo vase. This one is a little simpler but has a similar mottled ground to the vase in the original post. I only have phone pics at the moment but will add higher resolution images later. :)

That reminds me of a Ruckl shaped vase I have and with that slightly matt background.
Wonder if they made the blanks?
