Victorian ruby caterpillar vases. ID = Webb Posy "Ring"
« on: August 03, 2015, 02:40:35 PM »
Hi all,
I saw this strange vase the other day and wondered if anyone recognises the function it may have been designed for. Apologies for poor picture quality... It is blown glass, with five small chambers, all linked, allowing air to pass through the body of the piece. The rims are cut making me think candles are a possibility. There are also small pad type feet. I am not sure if Bohemian, Italian or English is most likely! Any thought are welcome,

It's a Webb posy "ring" design A234, 1893, Hajdamach, p 435

Thanks Christine, I did flick through both volumes of Hajdamach and missed it, I will return to those indispensible (and heavy) books. Well spotted. I am really pleased that it is a decent piece of glass. Thanks again Christine, very useful, another anonymous piece returned to its accurate place in history via GMB,

thanks

Even more credit Christine, you found it as a tiny drawing in Appendix 7!
