Venetian Compotes
« on: June 26, 2006, 11:15:53 PM »
Hi everyone,
Bought these at an auction last weekend.  Was wondering what exactly "Venetian" means.  Does it mean they couldn't find a maker, but knew it was venetian?  Does it mean that the style and blank is venetian?  Any help in clearing up my confusion, would be greatly appreciated.  The pictures don't do these justice.  The red is like a blood red.  The stem is hollow.  The gold etching is almost flawless.  They are 8.75 inches tall.

Many thanks.

Nancy, Tinypics has eaten two of your pics already again. :(  Can I suggest you use GlassGallery for your pics - Tinypics seems to be going through a silly patch again! (If you need help with GlassGallery please just ask me - here or via e-mail. )
Cheers! Anne, da tekniqual wizzerd

Sorry Anne, I'm just so used to using the tinypic site.  My photos are really large and when I try to upload them at yobunny I eventually have to go into the file and resize them so yobunny will accept them.  Anyway, here's two of the three pics.

Yes, there's a 200kb file size limit on GlassGallery.

Thanks for sticking with it though - at least now we can see your glorious compote. :)
