Frosted and enameled vase - help needed with maker please
« on: October 08, 2015, 10:15:04 AM »
I have a pair of these vases and have often seen similar pieces - from frill topped jugs to lidded jars and all things in between. They all have that distinctive "dotted" type of enameled decoration. I am assuming they are Victorian but have never been able to pin down a maker or even a country of origin, let alone a date. Can anyone help please?
thanks
Auliya

Hi, could you please upload clear photographs against a white background so that the colour, gilding and frosting can be seen clearly on your vase.

Also please add photographs of the base of the piece as well as this can be a final determinate or even a first determinate of where or where not your piece might have been made.

Finally,  adding the dimensions can also help as photographs cannot tell the viewer whether this is a dolls house piece or a giant floor vase if you see what I mean.

A full set of photographs is necessary in order for people to make a considered decision on  where something might be made.

Thank you :)

My apologies. Does the photo I posted not show up clearly for you? I posted against the black background as it shows the colours and pattern more clearly on my monitor. However I do have a photo against a white background, and have included photos of the base and other angles. These particular vases are 5.5 inches high.
thanks

Thanks :) the pics are much clearer to see now.  On the black I thought the base glass was a red colour.

I see these around and always wonder whether they are Hungarian perhaps.  Not sure why though.
Hopefully someone will be along who can help more precisely for you.

I don't know where they were made but would suggest they are relatively modern, as in mid ish 20 C onwards
