There looks to a vase described as Monart in British glass between the wars with a side cable or it just could be the way it was positioned for the photo, described as shape p/25 Size vi.

Shame about the vase I broke a nice piece of old lampwork trying to clean the inside today it shattered in my hands.

Did you mean shape P/23, page 62? Or are there different versions of the book?

As for the cable, I suspect it was a case of "let's hide the distraction of the cable" when setting up for the photo, and although the cable probably hung from the light fitting it was simply taped up out of view.
