Monart Ware Vase
« on: October 28, 2015, 02:00:08 PM »
Just for show - my latest acquisition, an early piece of Monart, dating to late 1920's.

Shape B, size V+ (10.5") colour 156, red with black and gold aventurine. Etched to base Monart Ware with the remains of a W3 Ware label.

Base just has the ground pontil scar, no grinding to outer edge.

I have shown it next a another Monart vase in orange for comparison as the red tends to come out more orange on photos.

I know how good something this big in Monart looks in reality.
It's just a shame photos don't ever do glass justice, isn't it?
I bet you'tre a very happy bunny  ;D
- the red is glorious - but still manages to hint at the orange I know you love the most. 8)

Thank you both  ;D - it does look better in real life; not the prettiest "pretty" piece  ;) but I like the chunkiness of it, and it's nice to have an early piece in a not too common colour way.

Nice one Roberta. I have not seen one with the script Monart Ware, which makes that a bit more unusual.
