Scavo Vase Barbini ?
« on: November 01, 2015, 03:04:52 PM »
Hello dear glass addicts  :)

I hope someone can help me out. I have a very nice vase, thick walled with a scavo surface. I have tried to find out what it is and I found some vases from Barbini in the same coulour with a very similar stand. Could anyone confirm Barnini or has maybe another idea ?

it is 29 cm high, opening is 5.5 cm. Max diameter is 14 cm. Weight is 867 g.

Thank you very much !

andy

It doesn't have the quality of finish for Barbini, nor probably for any Murano glassworks. I suspect it might be a fairly modern department store vase.

Here's a piece of Barbini scavo in red - it's genuinely heavy, and notice the cut/polished rim and the dense craquelure texture of the scavo...

Thank you for your answer. I agree, the vase on your picture looks definitely different.
I found this one, offered as Barbini, and I think my one looks pretty similar:

I think most of the attributions in that site are wishful thinking...
