Possible Angus and Greener, Sunderland Creamer
« on: March 13, 2016, 08:36:12 PM »
Hi, I bought a little jug at a car boot this morning but have struggled to read the lozenge as it is inside the bowl.

It appears to read, 17, X, D, 5 which would be Angus and Greener 17/9/1868.

Does anybody know if this attribution matches the images attached?

Many Thanks

Your attribution is perfectly correct - your creamer is indeed by Angus & Greener, from their RD 221689 of 17 September 1868 Parcel 5.

The design representation was actually for a sugar basin, already shown and discussed at
http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,60520.msg341407.html#msg341407
but the unique feature of the design was obviously for the decorative surface pattern rather than the shape.

I have no previous photo record of a creamer from this design, so I wonder if I might have permission to add a copy of your photos to the GlassGallery GMB RD database, please.

Fred.
