Organic Metallic Edged Glass Platter
« on: May 04, 2016, 02:01:29 PM »
Greetings to one and all. This is my first post and I thank all that can provide their feed back. The photo is of a large glass platter similar to Annie Glass but not, I think. As pictured the edge is very organic and metalic. I do not think it is silver plate because silver cleaner made no change. Piece is also signed but signature is not legible to me.

Interesting bowl.

Is that edging an applied thin [copper] metal foil, folded over and then coated with a softer solder to join various pieces and then coated with a bronze finish?
Does that edge extend around the rim of glass core like you see with 'light' forms of leadlight construction, [e.g. Tiffany lamp shade]   or,

Is that an opaque metallic like finish glass thats been applied hot, actual glass fused to the clear body. And, does that extend over rim to underside?

The signature, is that engraved in the glass, underside of rim that has been shaped flat and not standing proud of clear glass body.

I've requested moved to ID request section rather than USA. Better attention and answers there maybe.
So it goes.
