Cracked paperweights
« on: May 25, 2016, 06:54:25 PM »
Hi all I'm new to the boards and I'm a collector of glass paperweights.

I've got over a hundred in a wooden and glass cupboard and they have been sitting there for several years.

Every few weeks I wash them in warm soapy water, this time x6 randomly placed weights in the cupboard have cracked clean across off centre one of them actually splitting in two, all in the same off centre part of the weight but strangely this has happened to weights placed randomly and not together so I really have no idea how this could of happened wit no extreme temperature change or physical damage and this has never happened before.

Would anybody be able to shed some light for me.

Thank you

Hi Quiggles55, welcome to the gmb.

Sorry to hear about that problem. Are the weights that have cracked all from the same maker? Are they all of a similar shape or type? Are they all of the same age?

It might help if you can add some photos of the cracked weights and perhaps also of the cupboard.
