William Walker egg shaped thing
« on: July 04, 2016, 11:29:01 AM »
Hello, I bought this hollow egg shaped thing on the car boot, I knew it was signed but couldn't see it. I really should take my glasses with me!!! Its about five inches high with a little button foot one and a half inches across on the bottom. signed William Walker '83.  Blood red blobs on a clear background. I had never heard of him but did some searching. I can't find anything by him like this egg. Does anyone know his work to say if its really by him?   Thanks in advance, Cheryl

I have been busy searching William Walkers work, still can't find anything that looks like this egg. Found some lovely things by him. I need to sell some glass, my poor greyhound Sidney needs some teeth out and it doesn't come cheap!  :'(    Has anyone seen anything similar by him please?   cheryl

Cheryl, have you also searched the board? We have several topics about William Walker and his work (he is also a member of the board so you could perhaps ask him directly if this is one of his pieces.) :)

Yes Anne I did search the board for him, I found some information but no egg type items. There's so many dodgy signatures put on things so I am hoping it is by him really. Would you know how I can ask him please?   Cheryl

Cheryl if you go to this post by him http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,39500.msg314504.html#msg314504 and look at the left hand info pane under his name there is a wee envelope icon. Click that and it will allow you to send him an email via the board's internal mail system.

Hi Cheryl.  William is a lovely friendly man, and I am sure he will answer your  email as soon as he sees it.  He is a busy person and does not access his emails every day,  but do be patient...  in the meantime it is worth looking his profile up on Google ... such a talented glass blower. :)

I have just received an e mail from William Walker, he has confirmed he did make my egg as an 'object d'arte when he first set up his workshop in Wimborne in 1982/83. He made a series of them at this time. Sounds a very nice man.  :D   Very pleased now. Cheryl
