Hetalaga
« on: July 05, 2016, 12:25:05 PM »
Found a lovely little dish today signed Hetalaga 93 JE - and with a little googling this turns out to be the Hetalaga Glass studio run by Jens Eltorp. I had never heard of either.

The adress is given as Gullaskruv - so we know who and when and where.  But does anyone know how long they existed?

Ivo, this is what I found... founded 1985, Gullaskruv, Kalmar Län.  Jens Eltorp died Jan 2016 and the studio seems to have closed afterwards.

Jens Eltorp, vila i frid.

It's sad and it's sad to announce that glaskonstnären jens eltorp has died.
Jens drove hetalåga glasstudio over many years. The scenic location was the hub of his craft, and gave him the potential to create glass art of utmost class.
We who know Jens remember him like a hot man that burned for the glass and the kingdom of crystal. Jens Eltorp, rest in peace.

Jens Eltorp, who is self-taught and was born in Køge, Denmark. After several visits to the Kingdom of Crystal in Småland, he became interested in glass blowing and the nature of Småland.
After finishing school, 17 years old, he began working on Holmgård glass works. After a few years moved
Jens Smaland and began working in various glassworks in the Kingdom of Crystal.
In 1975 was bought Hot Low, a divided farm in Småland inland midway between Kalmar, Växjö. After 10 years
work in various glassworks Jens started working as a teacher at the School of Glass in Orrefors.

The dream of starting their own glassworks could be realized in 1985 when he opened Hot Low Glass Studio, inspiration comes from nature's colors and shapes, and the philosophy is to make glass that is functional, beautiful, with a lasting value and timeless design.

Jens has participated in more than 50 century exhibitions in Sweden and Denmark. On Sydosten, a juried exhibition at Kalmar Art Museum, he has participated a number of times.

Low Hot Glass Studio is also represented on the Småland Museum.
