5.25 inches tall, flat base, little wear, looks a bit Caithness like, any ideas ?

Hmmm ... I haven't checked my image database (of more than 5'000 Caithness weights) ... but it doesn't look Caithness to me. I could always be wrong, of course.

"Royal Crown" are contemporary Chinese.

I agree - modern Chinese - the way the white threads are drawn down from the top is typical of some Chinese factory products. 'Royal Crown' is one of a range of names used by UK importers to suggest the pieces are made in the UK, and to mask the true origins.

The white fireworks motif inside the weight is typical Chinese.  I haven't see a lot of egg shaped weights with this feature, but it is really common in a spherical weight.

It's the white threads, the bubbles, the construction of the base, the layer of aventurine with pointy-down bits and the squintness of the splodges around the base.... all standard "Royal Crown" features.
They do have a tendency to look a little Caithnessy, from a distance. 
And like all contemporary Chinese glass, it can sometimes be remarkably good.
