These two bought as a pair. Appear to be mid 20th century in style with lots of wear to bases. 30 and 20cm tall. Polished pontils.
Any help in identification much appreciated. Thanks.

The one on the right is by Gistl of Germany, circa 1950s, the amber one looks like it is from the same maker and probaby is - but I've never seen Gistl in this colour....

How interesting. I did think the one on the right was German, I have a large vase with bottle/emerald green strapping like that with a "Made in Germany" label on it, but never knew the period or the name of the maker.

Would these designs have been made after the '50s and into the next few decades as well? It looks a bit contemporary for '50s, or were they just a bit ahead of the uk... again? ::)

I see from your Fact File that they were in operation from '26 - the '70s.

A very similar technique was used by Meydam in his Tortuga range from 1963 and if I had to guess who copied whom, my money is on Gistl being a bit earlier. But at least it defines the era.

 :) Thanks, Ivo.
My vase appears to be a fair bit older than I had suspected, very interesting and rather pleasing. 8)

Hi...  the one on the left might also be Christinenhutte...  the decor is very similar to a ball vase I had:  see here.
