Mdina query

Bought this Mdina vase this morning at the local boot fair for 50p, fully marked to the base and with label. Signed Mdina 78 B. Question is would the 78 be the date year or a model number?

I think it's unlikely to be a year date - there is a plastic label, and I think these are later than the '70's, BUT I'M NOT SURE!

The glass is also very clear - higher quality, and according to the Mdina website, they upgraded the raw materials in '92.

To my knowledge, this is a Michael Harris design, the blue stripes with the yellow texture, and is a design that is one of the Mdina stalwarts - made from the beginning, and still made now. Obviosly, shapes are variations. I do think the square shape is unusual, but being later Mdina, I don't know what they were doing! :D

Thanks Sue I felt sure you'd be able to throw some light into my darkness, I must admit I've never seen the square shape before and it looks nice on the window sill with the light behind it.

Hello again, Paul!

I have seen an early Mdina piece that was rectangular in shape, it was in the private collection of Elizabeth Harris, and I don't have one.

I've just done an ebay search, and found a vase similar to yours in the tricolour pattern in this shape, again, with a plastic label.
