Same design by different designers?
« on: September 02, 2016, 07:30:36 AM »
Is it typical that designers make very similar to almost identical pieces? I own a couple of Marcello Furlan glass bottles that look exactly like the ones Laura De Diaz Santillana have in her catalog. What's the deal?

Hi Phonts,

I cannot comment on the specific piece that you are referring to, however I can confirm that it is quite common that different Murano artists take inspiration from each other. The island is also very small!
Never forget more than 700 years of Italian Glass history, this is the secret!
Murano glass just for fun!

I have an Archimede Seguso vase that is very similar to a Japanese vase made by Sanska? I had to do a fair amount of work to find out who made it as it was so close I almost bought it. This is my vase.

Clean and Crisp a Murano twist.
Archimede tops my list.
