Another small paperweight id pls :) ID = Thuringia, Germany
« on: December 02, 2016, 10:28:51 AM »
Hi again, any info about this paperweight would be great, I cant work out if it is a goodun or not!
It is 2" across and 1 3/8" tall. It has a candy stripe cane, which looks of good quality, that has been pulled up and made into a sort of double mushroom.
The glass is a bit bubbly particularly close to the cane and almost has a faint grey colour to it.
The base is flat polished and looks to have a considerable amount of old natural wear.
pics are not very good quality sorry.
TIA Wolfie

Hi Wolfie,

This is German / Silesian dating to the late 1800's to the early 1900's. The size of the weight and color of the glass are consistent with paperweights from this group. Several color motifs are know in the same tiered spiral swirl design. The same design motif is frequently used in conjunction with latticino or colored filigree to create a basket like design.

Kind Regards,
Eric
