Any thought's on this one would be welcome, a recent  Ebay purchase and i did not realise how big it was until it arrived.

I've had a good look and i'm not even sure how old it is.

The lid sits a good inch into the bowl.

11 inches in  total height with the lid and 8 1/2 inches across the rim.

Regards Chris.

Hi Chris,
I've seen these described on the net as Challinor Taylor USA "Jenny Lind" Circa 1880/1890.
Kind regards
Nick

Looks like your right Nick, the lid looks very similar to a fruit dish lid i have found online, although the shape does look different and there are other pieces in the pattern so perhaps lots of other shapes.

Here is a link to the image as i dont think we can put them directly on.

Chris

Both pieces were made by Challinor, Taylor & Co. of Tarentum, Pa.  and are part of their No. 13 pattern known to collectors as Flute.  As you have figured out already, the lid belongs to another base.  These are c1885.  There are a couple dozen different pieces in the pattern if you want to start collecting it although it is likely easier found on this side of the Atlantic.

Thank you Sid, i will have to say the quality of these two pieces of pressed glass is by far better than a lot of English pressed glass of the time, the moulding is perfect.
