I now have two of these bowls the darker one I found in my Christmas stocking  question is the lids  are darker than the bowls so do I have two bowls with 'married' lids or are they all like this

No I don't think so - i.e. no I don't think they are married.  They vary. 
Perhaps Nigel might have a better input but imho there could be reasons why they vary and why they aren't a mismatch.

Thanks M, they do fit well and I've noticed the lid colour is lighter when not on the bowl

Any time I've seen these they are just the same as yours, a lighter colour on lid.

Keith I believe  that the bases are cased, that is to say they are cased in a very thin casing of the white opaline, and the lids are not.
However ... not in all instances possibly.  I think it is possible there are some items which are cased and some not.  And this might depend on when (what years/time period) they were made and therefore, who made them at the time.

But this is just what I believe from what I've read.

It is also possible that they just vary depending on the maker of the item - again iirc from what I have read.
