Help with ID please...
« on: February 17, 2017, 12:00:42 AM »
Hello to all,

Would appreciate help with identifying the paperweight shown.   It is etched to its base 'Edinburgh' and research has indicated that the piece was made by Caithness; it is also a limited edition and is etched '26/100'.

What I would really like to know is what name did this paperweight have when it was introduced?  How old is it?  Also any other information that you think that is relevant to this piece?

Kind Regards...

Lee

The design name is Emerald Star. Unfortunately we only have a small scan of the catalogue so far, and would appreciate if we could use your images for Scotland's Glass - even better if you could take images on a white background for us.

Best regards - Wolf

That's great Wolf, much appreciated.

I will upload 4 photos with a white background shortly - just let me know if you require more.

Does anybody know the name of the designer/maker?
To my inexperienced eye, it does look a little bit like Allan Scott's or Rosette Fleming's work.

I'm not sure if it applies to all "Edinburgh" weights, but Allan Scott was definitely involved: he mentioned once, he was surprised to see Edinburgh etched on the base.

Hi Dave,
I've never seen an Edinburgh catalog.  Would you consider posting the entire catalog somewhere where it can be downloaded.
Thanks.
Allan
