Pate de verre? Two tone vase. Help with ID please. ID = Mdina
« on: February 25, 2017, 03:57:09 PM »
This piece is incredibly heavy, 1138g and is 6.25" (160mm) in height.
Forgive my total ignorance when it comes to Pate de Verre. I have read all about the technique of how it is made, but still don't really 'get it' I do know that this has a totally different feel to any blown glass I have handled, but I have never handled Pate de Verre.
There is an outline of where there was sticker/label and, whilst photographing, I discovered it is signed. Illegible, of course  ::)
I'll let the photos do the talking before I make a complete fool of myself and look forward to any help.
If I know, I'll comment. If I think I know, I'll have a go. If I have no idea, I'll just keep quiet and learn from others, so the next time I'll know.

Oh dear, dear Della! ;D
This is just satinated, acid washed. It's a bit of Mdina from some time around or after '86.
It's not pate de verre, sadly.  :'(

Funnily enough, I said to Iain, as I clicked post, I think it says Mdina.
Don't be sad, I'm not  :P
It wouldn't have cost me more than 50p when I bought it  ;D

That's all right then.  :)
It's worth more than that.
(I wasn't being patronising, Della, but i worried it might look like that after I'd hit post - I just liked all the D's together.  :-*)

I didn't think for one minute you were, Sue, so please don't worry.  :-*
