Topic: Whitefriars bark tumbler gold rim ???

Hi all,
Bought a bark tumbler today and it has a gold rim. Can't find one anywhere is it possible it has been added by the owner or were some made like this. Thanks in advance for any replies. Sue.

Ideally, use a plain background, the very closest close-up setting you have on your camera, crop excess background and show images of the rim, the base and the whole thing, please?

Thanks for that advice, I had no idea of how to resize. I've had these glasses before so am confident about it being Whitefriars. Height is 10cm and width is 8.5cm, weight is 290 grams.

Thanks! (Not everybody does know the correct texture for Glacier, so apologies for demanding confirmation, but it still helps to be able to see what we're talking about.  )
I cannot tell from the photograph whether the rim has been glided or if a layer of metal has been added.
Glaciers I've had myself have not always had nice neat round rims, but have "blips" of mould marks, which might make applying a rim awkward.

I suspect you need a proper wfs person to comment, (I'm not one). Have a little patience, somebody who does know will come along and give you the answers you need.

To be honest I didn't put a picture up first of all because I didn't know how to get them small enough !! if this has been done by someone they have done it well. There is a small bit of wear to the gilding but nothing unusual. Now I'm "pic savvy" I'll try and do a better picture of the rim.

Hi Sue. I've never seen gilded rim on these before. An Italian company made some tumblers similar to Whitefriars bark tumblers and used colours very similar to sky blue, tangerine etc. The bottom of the Italian ones look very much like yours too.

Not definitive, just an opinion.

Now you've mentioned that Marc, I've looked a bit more closely at the texture.
I'd put it not looking as deeply textured as Glacier down to being a photographic fartiact, but now I'm wondering if it might actually be something else.

Glacier glasses feel sharp to hold, they're not comfortable and they don't fit into my hand nicely. They're not well designed ergonomically, as far as I'm concerned.
Maybe they fit very large hands, I don't know.

I no longer have any Glaciers in my possession to do a comparison, but I do seem to remember they have quite deep, long vertical chunks in them.
