Dear friends of Czechoslovak glass.
I am very sorry that I have to inform you, that on Friday 30th September left us great Czech glass designer Mr. Jan Gabrhel in 87 years age.

He has left the world a great legacy and will never be forgotten.

Jan Gabrhel ran the factory Chulm U Trebone. As he passed away recently, I thought a few pictures of his work would be a small celebration of his artistry. He designed a lot of attractive glass during the 50's 60's 70's and 80's and beyond. The garnet gold he is famous for, was actually produced using small amount of a form of gold, colliodal gold. Very recognisable, he assisted his friend Pavel Hlava with some of his garnet glass designs. Jan gabrhel also produced many other ranges over the years, in clear glass, green, alexandrite, blue etc...
