Luxfer glass building blocks for kids
« on: October 24, 2017, 01:26:33 AM »
Hi,

I recently acquired a periodical from 1925 which shows Luxfer glass building blocks for kids, see attached image.  But what are they called?  The whole thing is in a blackletter font, very hard to read.  The word used for the blocks appears to be 'Glasbaukasten' or something similar, but I don't understand the usage.  Can anyone help transcribe/translate?

Danke...

It is Glasbaukasten, Ian, it means Glass Kit or something like that. Dirk or Pamela will be able to expand, I'm sure.

Blackletter is not the easiest thing to read eh? This is handy to bookmark if you need to convert Fraktur blackletter to regular text in future. https://www.pgdp.net/c/quiz/tuts/tut_p_fraktur.php

"Glass Block Kit" would work for me, thanks.  I bookmarked your blackletter link, too.

Glass toy building bricks

Thanks, Michael, that seems better-- glass (!) toy building blocks is exactly what they are.  Pretty, but seems like a risky present!
