Pale Amber Case Whisky Tumblers. ID Help, please
« on: November 18, 2017, 04:26:52 PM »
Hi All,  ;D

I am really struggling to identify this tumbler.
It is hand made and the pontil scar is nearly as wide as the base and highy polished.
The nearest I can find is the Caithness Morven, but the colour and size is wrong.
65mm high (2 5/8") high
60mm (2 3/8") top diameter
65mm (2.5") base diameter
Any ideas?  ???
TIA
Della

I'm afraid I can't help with id, but the difference between this and the Morven shape is that in Morven, the thick base slopes smoothly into the body, there is no sort of corner.

Hiya Della! It was absolutely wonderful to see you again at the weekend.
You look fabulous.  ;D :-*

Thanks for that, Sue  :-*
I have only ever seen photos of Morven, so find it very hard to judge.

Yes, it was fabulous to see you again! It was also great to see Christine, Leni, David, Rob & Patricia (great to speak Dutch again! It's been a while).
I was totally blown away by Jonathan Harris' work, so wish I could afford a piece! And what a lovely gent too.
We will definitely go to the next one. Iain had a ball too!

I think you've got yourself a true glassie in Iain.
As well as everything else that you love about him! What a lovely, gentle and cheerful chap he is too. ;D

I've found a pic of a couple of neodynium Caithness Morven whiskeys, but it doesn't show the curve at the base as well as I'd like it to. I don't have them any more so I can't take better ones. :'(
