Mdina Glass Ashtray
« on: December 10, 2017, 09:11:37 AM »
Hi, can anyone help me date (value?) this Mdina glass ashtray?  The etch on the back has an indistinct number which I initially thought might be 12, but now suspect it is either 72 or 92.  Is this a date or pattern number?  The ashtray is approximately 4.5 inches across the widest part (115mm).
Newbie to forums, couldn't upload pics as they were too big, but are on Instagram site alaric1visigoth.

Hello and welcome.  :)
There is plenty of techie help and info here to help with posting images.
http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,34093.msg366621.html#new

We don't really discuss values here. Something is worth what somebody is willing to pay for it, in that place at that time.
You can always search sold listings on well-knwn auction sites to see what things have sold for in the past.
To bring an mark up for photography, rub a little talc over it first.

Hello, thanks for the welcome.  I'd already done quite a bit of on-line research, but have not been able to find a similar item, which was why I tried this forum.  I'll have a look at the link you suggested for photos.  Thanks again,

I think this is a fairly recent piece, plastic labels date it to the '90s or later.
Fused bits fit into thie time period.
We don't know what the lettering means, but perhaps if you were to write to the factory, they could tell you?

Hi Sue, thanks for the information.  Rather confirms my suspicions!  Alaric

;D It's a very attractive thing. I like the bright, contrasting colours and they're well-arranged.
