Pressed Glass Panes
« on: January 07, 2018, 10:40:53 PM »
I acquired these windows at a sale, they are pressed glass and I have documentation that they were from the door casings of an old hotel of the 1860's. I am looking for someone that can give me an idea of what they may be worth. I realize this is not a selling site but really do not know where to locate someone who might be able to give me an idea or point me in the right direction to get an appraisal. I live near Houston, TX, any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I have a matching pair of them but was only able to download these pictures due to size limitations of the post. They are encased in two 7 ft sidelights and there are a total of 22 frames.

Seems your door may have been updated c.1900. Addison Glass Factory, Addison, New York, in business 1894 to 1908. Photos and information below come from the book   The Knopf Collectors Guides to American Antiques, GLASS vol. 2, by Jane Shadel Spillman.

Mod: Images removed as within copyright but see post reply below for link to image at CMOG.

Thank you so much for the information. I will research the article more. Seems I may have found a treasure as I bought the pair of sidelights at a garage sale for $25. Would love to see it put into a Victorian home to show case their beauty.

You are most welome.      A treasure certainly. Although the panes have value separately, they seem to be expertly put together and ready to install.........regards, cagney.

Cagney, if the images are from a book still in copyright they will need to be removed from the board under our use of copyright materials policy, sorry.

Anne,
It is copyrighted c.1983. According to board policy, I guess should be taken down. Not sure how I would do that.
Under U. S. copyright law there are provision for " fair use " i.e.  scholarship, education etc. My bad.

Thanks for checking and letting us know, Cagney. I can remove the images for you.  We understand the fair use provision in the USA but as we're an international board and hosted in the UK we have to err on the side of caution as it will be a copyright breach in various places outside the USA.

I did find an online image of the panels though, on the CMOG website, so can add a link for that as a reference instead:
