Iridescent, encased, modern glass signed - ID = Chris Comins
« on: January 27, 2018, 07:09:59 PM »
Hi
I was hoping for an ID for this glass please? To me, it reminds me of modern murrano as it looks almost Sommerso inside, but I've never seen multicoloured within the same layer? The outside of the glass has a soft satin iridescent finish, the vertical lines ( not sure if they are meant to represent legs?) and green, blue and pink decoration almost resembling a flag (matching colours within the glass) are on the outer surface. It's signed to the base but I can't make out the signature. It stands 4 and 1/2"  tall, 3 and 3/4" wide by 1 and 1/4" deep.
I was hoping someone recognised the glass or signature please?
Thanks

:) Just a guess here, could the signature possibly read Chris Lucas?
He was involved with Alum Bay Glass, but I think he's working on his own just now, doing some really interesting stuff. I wouldn't put this piece past him. ;)

Hi Chopin-liszt thanks for your fast reply 😀 I don't know if it is or not? Thought I should mention there are a few small marks above the lettering, almost like they are dotting an i or similar, but it may be a stray cluster of marks? I only mentioned it as The first dot is above what looks a bit like a letter i but maybe it's a mistake?  I've tried showing the marks from a slightly different angle as I don't think they showed much in the first photo? I've tried googling his name for signature comparison, but can't find anything on the net? Thanks again chriss  🙂

I'm no good at handwriting "analysis".  ::)
But I don't think there are accents or extra dots.
The name of the company Chris has now is "A Touch of Glass".
The label used on his work has an image of his signature, you can track an image down on a search engine, they pop up immediately.

I went back to my image search, and managed to find that we have an image available here. (If it hadn't been here, I would not have been able to find it or track it down ;D )

Me neither, not a clue about analysis, just thought I would compare  :) there are very light and small dots and lines in that area, possibly shelf wear or maybe slip of hand, it's a similar surface texture to the signature if I look through a loupe, but it's not anywhere near as clear as the signature itself. Great thanks for your help again and yes the signature on the label does resemble the signature on this glass thank you. i will try to contact them and see if they may be able to give more info like date or range thanks  :)

I could only get each image up on a seperate page. By the time I've found the other image, I can't remember what the first one was like.  ::)  ;D

probably flying a kite, but ..................   some of the Creation Lamis perfume bottles are very artistic - though I don't see any exactly like this, but thought this sig. not a million miles away from that name. :-\

Well spotted, John!
I did say I'm useless at handwriting "stuff". ;)
