Romanian Head Vases Id help please
« on: January 29, 2018, 08:21:21 AM »

Hi,
I found these two characters on a TK Maxx clearance shelf.
I bought them, quite simply, because I liked them - obviously made by someone with a good sense of humour !

Both of them are signed ‘ Nico Collection ‘ - I think.

There’s a Nico Glass in Romania but I don’t know whether there’s any connection.
If anyone can throw some light on their identity it would be great.

             Cylinder.                                    Globe
Ht       21cm (8.5”).                         15cm  (6.0”)
Wt.     1270gm.                                1850gm

Thanks for looking  :)

Scott

;D Oooh! These were not what I was thinking of at all from TKMaxx. The things I saw were truly head shaped, they had necks.
These are cute and quirky, if I'd seen them I'd have snapped them up too. ;)
The name Nico is ringing a distant bell somewhere, but I can't remember in what context. :-[

Hi,
Somehow I didn’t think they were going to be what you’d had in mind  ;D
They have a primitive quality; which is probably why I like them.
There is a ‘Nico Glass co’ in Romania - unfortunately I haven’t been able to find many examples of their work, but I’ll keep searching  :)

Scott, if you are on Facebook you can see Nico glassware on their page, including like yours Vaze de Flori. Hope this helps. :)
