ID help please
« on: February 12, 2018, 04:23:48 AM »
I'm hoping someone can help me identify the maker of the attached paperweight, and when it might have been made.  I read somewhere that the value of the paperweight is not dependent upon a makers mark, is that true? No hidden marks were noticed on this paperweight.  If there is something, please tell me where to look and what I would be looking for.

Thanks so very much!

Hi Newbie879, welcome to the Board.

I believe this weight is very modern Chinese.

This example from the Alibaba website shows a weight with similar construction but in different colours and with differing details in the various parts. But its ground with short lengths of latticino cane and its general floral elements seems to be quite typical.

The web page shows "Murano Glass Paperweight" in its headings I believe that is very unlikely.

Thanks so much for the help.  I'm surprised because it came from an artists estate.  But  in viewing the link, a couple parts of the paperweight look very similar.  How on earth did you find this sample?  I looked for a long time!

I really appreciate the help!
