The vase has heavy scratching on the foot ring. I can make out:

Orrefors <something> NS and then an 'X' in a circle.

The engraved scene is of a serenade. The vase is 14 inches tall.

Any thoughts? Thanks.

Hello and welcome.  :)

We have plenty of techie help and info. here:-

http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,34093.msg366621.html#new
to help you post your images directly to the board.
Images hosted elsewhere have a habit of disappearing and leaving us with a thread full of information, but nothing to indicate what the information is about.

(and my pc is ancient and all out of date, I don't click on strange links. Tinypic is strange, I'd worry.)
Cheers, Sue M. (she/her)

Thanks for that, I resized my pictures. 125KB is quite small.

Thanks. They blow up nicely!
Your marks are a bit lost under all the wear, aren't they?
One trick to bring them up, is to rub a little talcum powder over it with the ball of your thumb.
That might help (or not!) to make out what is mark and what is scratch, seen more easily.
The vase itself looks perfectly right.
Orrefors numbers are well documented. I'm sure somebody will know what it is, once we know what, exactly, is there.
Ivo Hannstra produced a really good little booklet; "Glass Fact File A-Z", which has most of them in. I do have a copy. (it requires special close-up-focus glasses and a magnifying glasse for me to try to read it.  :) )

Wow  :-* and Wow  :o
One, to see you Gareth,  ;D and the second, with the info you've just provided.
Simin Gate really is one of the top ones, isn't he?
No wonder the vase looked absoluely right. ;D

Can I assume you recognised it, rather than read and tracked down the numbers? :)

Hi, always in the background, Ernest Gordon collection continues to grow, albeit slowly.
Once you spot it's Romeo and Juliet, Google gets a lot easier !

Perfect, thank you. I dismissed it being Romeo and Juliet because from memory he doesn't serenade her in the play. Also there's a modern Romeo and Juliet Orrefors vase.
